New Jersey Performing Arts Center is a place you need to visit!

Once you say goodbye to your local moving company in New Jersey, you need to visit the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. For 20 years, this is a beacon for all performing arts in the area. As a matter of fact, the building is one of the largest art centers in the whole country! Their main goal is to showcase a diverse range of artists. This is why you will find a huge variety of live entertainment and performers here – both from the area and abroad!

There is something for everything! If you love stand-up comedies, then this is the place for you! If music is more of your things – then you will find anything from jazz to R&B here – and even classical ensembles! The only drawback is that the New Jersey Performing Arts Center is drawing in many crowds – both from New York and all over New Jersey!

But they do not stop here! The spot also hosts festivals, too. Newark’s only major jass fest – the TD James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival takes place here every November. If you come here in the summer, you should also visit the Sound of the City – a not-for-profit event, that can reach Times Square as well!

Visiting Branch Brook Park is one of the things to do in Newark after the move

If you are moving into a smaller space in Newark, then you will crave some fresh air and open space. Luckily, the city is here to provide! There are many amazing parks to visit after moving here, but Branch Brook Park is probably the biggest and best! It covers more than 359 acres of land in the north of Essex County. But it is not only the size that should make it your first pick!

Instead, so many people are coming to the park thanks to its many cherry trees. If you move to Newark in the spring, then you can see more than 14 different species of trees in the blossom! There are more than 4,000 trees, and it is a sight to behold! This is why you can also visit the Cherry Blossom Festival that’s held here every April. It is so amazing that some say it rivals Tokyo!

The Newark Museum is the next thing to see!

After you are done walking around the park or visiting a show in the performing center, then you need to go to an exhibit in the Newark Museum! It is the largest museum in the state of New Jersey, and it has a lot to offer! There is a huge variety of exhibitions that you can see and experience in the museum. From the works of American realism to the relics arriving straight from Tibet.

As a matter of fact, it is the latter that deserves a special shoutout! The museum’s collection of Buddhist treasures is one of the finest Sino-Tibetan in the world! It includes over 5,000 artifacts – and an altarpiece that Dali Lama blessed himself is one of them! There is something for science lovers here, too. The planetarium is out of this world – and an exhibition on energy and waste will give you hands-on experience with the topics! It a perfect afternoon after moving cross country with your family – so many sure you grab it!

A visit to Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is another one of the things to do in Newark after the move

We already mentioned Cathedral Basilica – but this Newark, New Jersey cathedral also deserves a special shoutout! You will find it on the eastern edge of the Branch Brook Park, and it is a colossus of breathtaking beauty. You just need to visit 89 Ridge Street in the Lower Broadway neighborhood.

It was built during the Gothic Revivalism – the construction started in 1898. It took 29 years to complete this wonder, and the Anglo-style flying buttresses and French medieval spires were added throughout its construction. Today, it is the fifth-largest cathedral on the continent. What’s more, it is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.

Even if you are not religious, you can listen to soothing chamber music here. Here, you can listen to open concerts throughout the year. The largest pipe organ ever built by Schantz Organ Co. is a part of these. The instrument includes 154 stops connected to its two consoles. You can be left in awe with its 71-meter-tall towers, and learn as much as you can about the mixture of the architectural styles from Europe.
